Creating a custom object isn’t necessarily difficult, but it is something that has to be done a certain way to work. The first step is to sign up as administrator and click on the Setup command in the upper right hand corner of the screen My Amend.
This brings you to a new screen, and you want to focus on the column on the far left hand side of the screen. Look for “App Setup” in bold and the various options underneath there. You want the one labeled “Create,” not the one that says customize. To create a new custom object it start with the “Create” and then a drop down menu of options will appear.
From that menu you scan down to objects and then click on “objects.” On the new screen there will be a blue button in the center that says “New Custom Object.” All you need to do is click on this button and you will be able to walk through creating the object.
Once you click that button on the new screen you have the ability to label the new object, and add any necessary description, as well. To allow tracking you need to scroll down and check on “Allow Reports” and “Allow Archives.” You can choose to have this new object as a main tab, or customize it so it appears elsewhere, depending on your specific needs.
Finally to save your new custom object in Salesforce, all you need to do is hit the save button at the bottom and it’s done. There have been some reports that sometimes a user will have to sign out and sign back in or restart their computer before it all works the right way.
